What is Clone Correct?

A clone-correct build replicates a specific military rifle — down to the correct parts kit country of origin, receiver profile, barrel twist rate, furniture, and markings. The goal is an accurate representation of what soldiers carried, not just a similar-looking rifle. Every build on this page is graded by how closely it matches its stated target spec.

Parts Kit Origin

The foundation. A correct kit comes from the right country, the right arsenal, and ideally the right date range. Bulgarian kits for Bulgarian spec. Tula kits for Soviet spec. Substitutions are documented.

Receiver Profile

Receiver dimensions, selector markings, cut angles, and surface finish matter. A Type 3 AKM receiver has different geometry than a Type 2. The right receiver paired with the right kit = correct build.

Barrel Specs

Length, twist rate, profile, and gas block type are all spec items. A 1:12 twist is correct for M16A1; 1:7 is modern M4. CHF barrels are closer to mil-spec than button-rifled. These details are documented.
